BE STILL
Psalm 46:8-11

"Be Still and Know" CeCe Winans
For centuries, preachers have read Psalm 46:10 and shouted from pulpits for us to be still. Let God be God. As we continue to learn about trust and faith, how can we "be still" when faced with uncertainty, life continually lifeing, and circumstances and situations that oftentimes leave us spinning? We must first understand what the word "still" means. In what context is God telling us to "be still"? To understand the context, start in verse eight (8) and read through verse eleven (11). The word "still" in verse ten (10) does not mean we should take a nap, sit quietly, or be inactive. In this context, "still" means to stop trying to figure it out, fix it, or reach a resolution on our own. In verses 8-11, God essentially gives us His resume. Look (behold) at the work I do. "Allow Me to be your fortress, your strong tower, your refuge. You, my child, are not alone. Stop acting like you are. Not only do I have the answer, I Am the answer." The Father is telling us this morning, "Step where I step. Do what I tell you to do. Come, taste and see that the Lord is good."
Father God, as we face another day with its challenges and uncertainties, help us to recognize who You are. You are our source. You are the answer, and we do not have to figure it out. You have already completed the painting of our lives. You, Father, knew our end at our beginning. Today we cast every care upon you because you truly do care for us. We thank you, Father, for what you have done, what you are doing, and what you will do in our lives. Increase our faith, Father. Holy Spirit, comfort the hurting, bring clarity to confusion, and give wisdom and understanding in each situation we face today. Send someone across our path today that we can minister to with your love and grace. And, Father, help us not to respond in kind, no matter what those around us do or say. Thank you for being Abba. Thank you for your provision. Thank you for sheltering and protecting us from every attack of the enemy. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
In Christ, by His grace alone,
Pastor Trish
