A SONG OF PRAISE

Psalm 3:1-8
Life has a way of hitting us broadside sometimes. Out of nowhere, unexpected challenges force us to change direction. One minute we are living life, working, going to church, helping those we can, and the next minute we are standing in a stunned stupor wondering what in the world is going on. When these life happenings explode on the scene, Job is usually the first person we think about. This morning, I want to look at someone else. David. In Psalm 3, David is running from his son, Absalom. Absalom was chasing David so he could kill him. David, King David, a man after God's own heart, a warrior, and yet his kingdom was falling apart (the entire story can be found in 2 Samuel). Still, Absalom wanted the kingdom and would do whatever it took to end David's life. David could have called guards; he could have stood and fought back immediately, but he didn't. David, his loyal servants, and warriors ran for their lives, and David chose to praise. He cries out to the Lord; he praises his Protector, his Salvation, his Defender. Life is going to life, as I like to say. We are going to face difficulties, challenges, and outright stunning events that Satan will use to distract and derail us from our destination. Praise will keep us grounded. Praise will keep us focused. Praise will remind the devil that he has already lost. Not only are we victorious in Christ, but we will also remain victorious in, by, and through our faith in Christ. He is our Savior, our Protector, and our Defender. Today, choose to praise. Unexpected challenges, circumstances, and life-altering events will happen. Praise to the One who is worthy of all praise will be the light that gets us through.
Blessings and Love,
Pastor Trish
